This is Colona

We are a PADI 5 Star Instructor Development Dive Resort and we aim to give our guests unforgettable experiences and the chance to explore the amazing underwater life that the Red Sea offers.

Our philosophy is to create memories together with our guests whilst providing high quality and safe diving and snorkelling activities.

All our courses and diving and snorkelling activities are led by experienced Scuba Diving Instructors, Dive Masters and snorkelling guides. We aim to provide a warm, welcoming family feeling.

Our Dive Centre

Our dive centre is located by Zahabia beach which is 2 km north from Hurghada New Marina.

The beach offers a place to do beginner courses in a shallow area.  The house reef starts from approximately 1 m depth and within 2 minutes of diving you can reach a depth of 30 or more metres. This makes it an ideal place for all types of courses and shore diving. During your surface interval, you can relax on the beach outside our dive centre. When you finish your dives for the day, why not stay for a volleyball game or an after-dive drink in our diving shade? You could do this while you log your dives.

Our dive centre is perfect for groups and families mixed with divers and non-divers. While divers are in the water, non-divers can snorkel or just relax on the beach. Maybe they could do a try dive at the house reef.

Our boat trips also starts from the jetty at our beach.

Over 40 years of experiance!

We have been operating in the Red Sea in Egypt for over 40 years. The first centre was opened in Sharm El Sheikh in 1992 by Mr. Freddy Storheil, a Norwegian who had run liveaboards in the Red Sea since 1977, before opening up his first centre. The name “Colona” comes from Freddy’s first boat he ran liveaboards with. The second centre opened in Hurghada in 1999, and after a huge success, the third centre opened in El Gouna in 2001. The fourth centre opened in Marsa Alam in 2010. Unfortunately, we had to close the dive centre in Sharm El Sheikh due to less flights arriving. Thus, footfall fell dramatically.  In 2020, the world was faced with the Covid-19 pandemic.  This impacted hugely on our operations which resulted in the closure of our dive centres in Hurghada and Marsa Alam. In 2022, we decided to move our dive centre from El Gouna to Hurghada and that is where we are located now. Since beginning of 2023 we are also a PADI Instructor Diving Centre (IDC).
