Colona Magawish builds artificial
reef!
Some of the instructors had some spare
time and started to put stones on the
sandy bottom of our beach, to give some
shelter for the fish and to create artificial
reef. Couple of days later it got extended
with some more stones, marble bricks
and as a final touch a cleaned old pick
up car!

The Finnish Freediving team that are
participating in the World Championship
in Freediving in Makadi Bay in December
was doing 3 days of training with Colona
Divers.
We had the pleasure to see all of them
"in action" . The team members
are Susanna, Johanna, Sirpa, Timo, Jyri
and Antero.
We wish them all the luck in the competition!

Some of our Scandinavian divers was extremely
lucky while diving Elphinstone on November
the 11th. The mission during the day for
Stein, Ann-Sofie, Martin & My was
of course to find the Longimanus. Here
comes their story:
”After jumping in the water on
the south part of the reef, we went straight
down to the reef, and then out in the
blue water. After only a short time, the
first shark showed up. It was a giant
Longimanus, 3,5 meter long. After a short
turn, he comes back again. But not alone.
He is bringing another two sharks. The
all stay around us for about 20 minutes,
and they get so close to us, so you could
have touched them.
On the second dive, we meet another 4
Longimanus, and they circle around us
for a long time again.
This experience is something that none
of us never will forget!”

Bent Christensen, associate professor
in ecology, is finally at Colona Magawish
holding the Eco-Weeks! He is every day
on the diving boats and during the eco-dives
he is showing our divers the most amazing
details in the Red Sea.

In El Gouna we have set
up a new kind of excursion.
Every Friday we are making a lagoon trip
with the typical lagoon boats along El
Gouna channels.
We start in Abydos Marina, passing Zeytuna
beach and make a short stop in Down Town,
before we head towards Abu Tig Marina.
Here we stop for a tea at Seventh Star
and end up in the Duty Free shop.

The diving donkey Roger is not only transporting
tanks and equipment for our happy divers.
Today he also transported Mohamed and
Ahmed (snorkel guide Nasser's sons) from
the jety to the dive center. They were
of course as happy as can be of this treat
;o)
In the photo you also see Abu El Naga,
our compressor worker from Qena, that
takes good care of Roger.

Sofia 9 years old made
her Bubblemaker with instructor Fredrik.
Her brother Petter 12 years old made an
introductory dive, while Sara was freshing
up her diving skills in a Scuba Review
at Colona Divers - Hurghada.
Instructor Fredrik showed them everything
from crocodile fish to lion fishes. Sofia
was like a fish in the water ;o) Petter
just said it was so so cool ,o)
The whole family was proud after a nice
experience in the Red Sea.

The Family Lindgren (father Anders with
his daughters Linnea, Julia, Joanna, Emelie)
was taking their Open Water Diving certificate
together at Colona Divers Magawish with
instructor Fredrik.
They were of course supported by mother
Ann-Helen.

Sara Göransson was the lucky winner of
a 10-dive package at the Dive Show in Sweden
17-19th of March. She has been diving in the
Red Sea before and holds a PADI Advanced Open
Water certificate. We congratulate her to the
