Colona Divers Sharm el Sheikh ::: Project Yolanda
Project Yolanda they called it, that is, the mad tech divers from Sharm. A one week project onboard Diavola started on 22nd of May with preparations of Equipment and dive plans. And a Check dive to 80M!!! With search and rescue staff on board and a doctor standing by all safety precautions were taken. Local dives were made 23rd and 24th to build up nitrogen narcosis immunity to depths of  80-100M.

On the 25th of May exploration began, Leigh Cunningham descended 150M away from the Yolanda reef as the Depth sounder indicated bottom at 100M+ A short search at around 80M revealed a sand slide had occurred and finding the Yolanda may be more difficult that expected. Tons of cargo lay strewn around the reefs. Containers, metal sheets and even an anchor were found in the scar Yolanda had cut in the sand. They were on the trail for sure.

Next day 26th May, after comparing dive maps the night before Leigh and Mark decided their route. Unfortunately Mark got Mummy's Revenge and Leigh had to go alone. He followed the sand valley made by the Yolanda but got taken a little off course at 130M. As this was the first MIX dive time didn't allow much exploration but the sand revealed large metal protrusions sticking out and the shadow of the Yolanda came into view. 103 minutes later Leigh was on the surface grinning like a cat that swallowed a bird. She was found.
27th was the final day, a day for consolidation and most of all photo's!! But due to the depth, the video diver was unable to dive and she even had doubts her housing would hold out at 145M!! Leigh returned alone and circled wreck confirming she was intact but mostly submerged in the sand. Therefore; wait for next instalment of Project Yolanda 2 when video will be provided by a trimix diver!!!
