    Glass Boat sailing again...

After some renovation work our glass bottom boat is back in bussines :) Being cleaned, renovated and painted it is ready for the up-comming high season. It was not easy to put it back in the water, but ... now it is shining again at our jetty. Get ready for Sand Bank trips ! :)

    Fresh Divemasters

During this summer season we had two divemaster candidates working hard and with dedication towards this rating. Now one of them is finished with his training - Linus - who stay with us for the winter season. Monika - our second candidate has still some minor tasks to do and before the month finishes she will aslo be rated as divemaster. Congratulations to both of them :) Well done!

    Hurghada Colona Shop Opened!

Right now, all three Colona branches have the same interior design for the shop/reception. It took some time, effort, patience and hard work to make it work - but now we can proudly present it to the world:) You may trake a short rest there after a hot day on a boat while looking at the Colona apparel, IQ stuff and many more. The walls are decorated by illuminated panels with pictures by Kimmo Hagman - well known underwater photographer.

    New Jetty

We were quite surprised how fast it was done - but now we are proud to show the new jetty that leads to our boats. It is not only an easy entrance for all the guests and also for our furry dive center friend - Roger...

    ...new jetty is being done

After a long long time, the jetty at Colona in Magawish is being re-done. We were all surprised how fast the project: "lets make a new jetty" is realised - it was done overnight! At last we can step on it hard - we believe that Roger is more then happy for his new road. We all are:)

    New way of diving :))

Now we can offer a dive ride to remember. You can try to dive with one of our X-scooters. Whoever will do it, will fall into "scooter-mania" - noone is left indifferent. Big smiles after scootering and lots of new dive posibilities are now available at Colona Magawish :D

Safari.... but not on boat :)

As a small break some of our staff and guest with Kimmo as leader, took a chance and went off to a safari but... in the desert. Speeding thru sandy plane, crossing some valleys and hills made a huge impression on all participants. Warm light of the setting sun gave the last "grest" touch. For sure we will repeat that again.

    Monster nudibranch

On a regular dive on Fanous East just under the boat we have spotted a very unusual nudibranch. It was realy HUGE! Almost 25 cm long and looking like muteded-melted-monster. Ali, who was the guide this day said, that in his long diving carear he never saw one like this. After some research we found that is was a nudibranch from family Ceratosoma. Unusual meeting!

    Big Shark spotting

On one of the north mini safaris, our instructor Gunnar was surprised to snorkel with huge whale shark (well, they are normally big, but... firts time is always BIG). When captain Goma of Colona V shouted: "Jump Gunnar, Jump - big shark", at first he hesitated. But then .... almost half hour of whaleshark watching was the reward.

In El Gouna one can also spot some big fish

Yesterday our dive guide Niklas Funk found a huge Leopard Shark in Habili Qalawa. Together with our super-repeater Michael Nordström, he was diving with the shark for about half an hour. The shark seemed not to be bothered by the two enthusiastic divers, who also managed to take some pictures of the shark.

The Red Sea is not famous for sharks, but sometimes do we meet different kind of sharks on our dives in the north Red Sea as well.

Earth Day took Place at Magawish

Earth Day took place on April 22nd 2008. This is the largest annual environmental event that is celebrated simultaneously around the globe by more than half a billion people. Of course we at Colona Divers in Hurghada also wanted to do something to care for our fantastic Red Sea.

We were cleaning up by our small house "reef" and by our boat jetty. Most of the staff could not attend due to working out on the boat but we were a group that did our best to represent our dive center in this nice event for the environment, not only in the Red Sea but all over the world.
